Urbandub review

Real musicians and meaningful songs appear to be heeding the public’s clarion call in 2005, especially original Pinoy rock. But before the year ends, EMI Philippines is again pleased to bring one of the country’s intense and sonic-hard rockers. Urbandub.

Urbandub, Cebu-based pioneers of progressive rock are now taking a ride to success producing mighty-loud, lyric-based and crafty compositions of Pinoy rock at its best. The band unleashes their mantra under a major label and an album in titled Embrace. The album’s first single is Alert the Armory which is still playing over radio station.

Most songs are penned by the band’s front man, Gabby Alipe. Fittingly, these lyrics embedded in rock music are charged in a bleak emotional terrain but equally compelling and quirky delightful to the ear. The album speaks about finding comfort. Songs in the album don’t just deliver a rock tune but a boundless stream of emotions be it happiness or sadness.

Urbandub has already touted as the Heroes of Indie Bands because they have rode their popular across the country without a music label and the first indie band who have released albums Birth and Influence are under Lighter Records, an independent music label in Cebu, before the band signed with EMI in March 2005.

The band is composed of Gabby Alipe on guitar and vocals, John Dinopol on guitars, lalay Lim on bass and Jan Mendoza on drums.
